Holiday Itinerary

Day 1 Depart from your home area in the morning travelling to Staffordshire, arriving in the afternoon at Park Royal Hotel.

Day 2 Heading out through east Cheshire, into the Peak District National Park on to the town of Bakewell. Wander along the River Wye, pop into the local independent shops and sample an original Bakewell Tart before heading to the spa town of Buxton, whose history is shaped by water. We include a guided tour of the Buxton Crescent Experience that reveals the story of Buxton, the renowned water and recent restoration of the Crescent building before heading back across the moors, passing the 'Cat and Fiddle', the second highest public house in England.

Day 3 It's off to Wigan Pier, to enjoy a friendly and informative 2-hour barge cruise. Passengers will enjoy the alternative view of the geography, wildlife and heritage of the Industrial Revolution and environs of Wigan, Leigh and the Douglas Valley. On then to the Royal Horticultural Societies fifth garden, the 154 acre RHS Garden Bridgewater, one of the largest gardening projects in Europe, transforming the historic grounds of Worsley New Hall in Salford.

Day 4 Begin the day with a visit to the Silk Museum and Paradise Mill revealing Macclesfield's 300-year story as a global centre for silk production, textiles and design. With a unique collection of machines, historic archive of pattern books and textiles, see how designs were created and then transformed onto silk. Then we head to Knutsford, in Elizabeth Gaskell's novel 'Cranford', for some time at leisure with independent shops and eateries or for those that want to explore further into the parkland of Tatton Park.

Day 5 After breakfast we make our way home from the Peak District with suitable stops on route.
