Edinburgh Military Tattoo

This four-day break takes us north over the border to Dunfermline. The spectacular Edinburgh Tattoo is held each year in the grounds of Edinburgh’s Magnificent Castle. The Massed Pipes, Drums and Band of the Scots Guards, combine to bring spectacular music, colour, and pageantry to Scotland’s world famous military event. With an included visit to The Royal Yacht Britannia.
Day 1 We leave the Chelmsford area early morning and head north stopping en-route for refreshments, crossing over into Scotland
late afternoon and arriving in Dunfermline early evening.
Day 2 Enjoy a hearty Scottish breakfast before our drive into Edinburgh the capital of Scotland where you can spend the afternoon at leisure to explore the city. Your evening meal is not included today so you are free to choose your own restaurant in Edinburgh We rejoin the coach in the evening for the 9.00pm performance and head up to the Castle. We then take our reserved seats for the highlight of the tour, the spectacular Edinburgh Tattoo, performed on the ramparts of the castle. After the show we board the coach for our journey back to the hotel.
Day 3 Today a full day scenic tour of the Trossacks with time in the lovely town of Callander, which was the town used for all those years as the setting of Dr Finley’s Casebook. We then proceed with a delightful scenic tour via Loch Katrine, the setting for Sir Walter Scott’s ‘The Lady in the Lake’ travel onto Aberfoyle with its abundance of woollen mills and shops before we journey back to our hotel.
Day 4 Today we drive the short journey across the River Tay to St Andrews, the home of golf, but much more, also the home of Scottish Christianity. This university town has much to offer with the Abbey ruins and small harbour. From here we travel to Dundee via the Tweed Bridge with an option to visit the Discovery Centre or enjoy the city.
Day 5 We head for home today, travelling south across the Forth Road Bridge by-passing Edinburgh and heading for the borders and back into England, stopping en route for refreshments, before arriving in the Chelmsford area mid-evening.
