The Isles of Scilly –
An Island Parish as seen on BBC 2

Sat 19th – Thu 24th June

6 days - £775

Once again we are pleased to offer this unique holiday to the Scilly Isles, known as the ‘Fortune Isles' or the Flower Islands. The Islands are said to have only two seasons Spring and Summer and spring flowers are often picked throughout the year! Beaches of fine sands are washed by the waters of the Gulf Stream; Winter, as we know it, never casts its shadow here and throughout the year the landscape is lush and green with sub tropical plants and superb displays of flowers. The islands number about 150 but only 5 are inhabited and all have a fascinating collection of fauna and flora, the islands are of particular interest to bird lovers, and large colonies of sea birds, white dolphins and seals swim in the clear blue waters.

Day 1 We leave Chelmsford early morning at 05.30 and travel via the motorway network to the West Country and then across Devon into Cornwall to Penzance, where we will meet our helicopter for the 20min flight to St Mary’s. This is a lovely short flight over the Cornish Coast and Islands. On arrival at the hotel we can expect a lovely warm welcome from the owners.

Day 2 to 5 Each morning we are introduced to the day’s activities. One day will be based on the main Island of St Mary’s usually to include a guided tour of the Old Town and Peninnis Head. St Mary’s is the largest of the Isles of Scilly and we shall see most of it on our excursions. The coast is stunning but there are also picturesque areas in the centre of the island including Holy Vale. We shall travel by launch to the off-islands on the other days with a guided visit to Tresco to view the subtropical famous Abbey Gardens a full day guided tour of either St Martin or St Agnes (The choice of which will be left to our guides depending on the tide and seasonable weather). All of the smaller islands have their own distinct flavour which brings back visitors year after year to these “Enchanted Isles”. The hotels own tour guide shall escort us on each of these excursions to the Islands. They all involve a fair amount of walking and so this holiday is not recommended for anyone with a mobility problem. There will also be a tour of Star Garrison and one afternoon free to explore St Mary’s or take one of the many boat trips available from the quay.

Day 6 After breakfast we transfer to the heliport for our return flight to Penzance and our homeward coach journey. Arriving back in Chelmsford approx 8.00pm.

A full guided tour on St Mary’s usually including the Old town & Peninnis Head.
A full guided tour of Tresco and world famous Abbey Gardens.
A full guided tour of either St Agnes or St Martins
